Currently working on a film only module at the moment, specifically Fuji Colour Film. A requirement is to enter the FujiFilm Student Awards competition with the title "The Colour Of.."
Now, I absolutely adore colour. All sorts of colour, a colourful world, colourful clothes, anything that is bright and cheery, I love it! So this seemed to be the perfect project for me. It was simply limitless, other than the fact that I had never used medium format or 5 x 4 camera's in my life. The good news was the I have been using Fuji Colour Film since summer 2012. Those of you who have been with me a while may have remembered me trips to York and Venice where I went Fuji Colour crazy and now I'm back with it.
The competition closes on the 29th April 2013, but anyone can enter and it is free, so if it sounds like your thing and your are crazy colourful like myself, then go for it. I am going to be working on my 35mm camera and that is absolutely fine.

Is the title for 2013's FujiFilm Student Awards competition. As part of my module this semester we have to take a few rolls of film and are allowed to upload four. These images are not my final selection but my strongest out of my first practice film.

New Changes...
It's about time I had a bit of a change. Autumn is just around the corner and that word 'September' is just enough to put a chill on your chest and kick through the rusty reds and golden yellows inhaling that oddly refreshing decaying smell.
I have had my blog for a while now...
Throughout that time I have entered magazine competitions, assisted over fifteen weddings including traditional British and Hindu ceremonies and completed my first year at university. Like all things, change happens and this is what I love about Autumn. We are oddly excited to go back to school, college or university and the excitement of the Summer has just worn off and drizzled in boredom, that couldn't be more grey or dull. I feel September is a crucial month to let go of all the things that are keeping you down or stressing you out. You can do this anytime of year but the symbolism of September to me seems like the strongest influence to make a new start, even more so in a way than New Year and it's resolutions.
It felt it was a time for a change of my blog. I'm growing up now and feel more at one with myself and mature with my thoughts and approaches to life. My blog needed to reflect that. It's like painting or wall papering your bedroom. How often are you going to have it with cute little rainbows and furry bunnies? As you grow you need change.

Celebration..
![]() |
| Celebration 'First Anniversary' Summer Project Zoë Bull |
Celebration is a word that can be many things. 2012 is a perfect year for celebration, particularly for us Brits. It was simply fate that the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics were to fall this year. If you set those large scale celebrations aside, there will always be someone out in the world celebrating something. Everyday there is a birthday to celebrate or an achievement, like passing your exams and getting into University or passing your driving test or getting a promotion in your dream career. As people we take for granted what we have and focus all our energy on the negative because thats what we want to improve on. Perhaps it is time we celebrate that we are living and that this is the greatest gift of all, no matter what our emotions are telling us.
It was hard to find something that would represent celebration that didn't seem so cliche. I wonder how many people would have taken pictures of fireworks or the Union Jack bunting for their celebration piece for the Summer Project for Uni. My sister got married a year ago, and since I didn't have a present for them, I did a double whammy and took this for her and her husband.

A Flickr of inspiration...
280112 365 2012 outtake, a photo by LouiseGeoghegan on Flickr.
( I don't take credit for this photo)
Sometimes freedom and exploration gives you that kick that gets you into action. ( I don't take credit for this photo)
I was searching on Flickr earlier at some of the groups that I have entered photos in, and I came across this beautiful collage of spontaneous Hipstamatic images, a Flickr user took within 20 minutes using the shake technique to select random lenses and film.
It got me thinking into dedicating a whole month of my 365 project using this "random" technique and see what I come up with.
Come February a month of spontaneous photography shall begin.

2011 - My year in Flickr photos...
I write my most philosophical and reflective posts at this time of year. A lot can happen in twelve months. You meet new people and build new friendships and if you are lucky, ones that last a lifetime. You can begin a career, or take the baby steps towards that big goal that you know will make you and everyone who knows you, proud.
I have come some way over this year with my photography and though I have mentioned some of my achievements in some of my recent posts; I can't help but relive them in my mind and the influence that those achievements will have when the bigger picture comes in to sight.
In the last few days of the year, I look over what I have done. I like to keep journals and blogs as such, as a reminder or what I have done, what I have thought and what I have felt, but not only that. I like to see what I have done on certain days that I may have done differently in other years or write about new experiences or even life-changing ones like starting University and really knowing what it is like to grow up.
I don't always write about Photography in a direct way but you will know that I gift-wrap it in somewhere. You can record many memories in many ways. This can be through writing, through song, through video but sometimes it can be the pictures that we take, whether they are captured with our minds eye, or through a camera. I'm an owner of a few cameras now and each one that I look through; I get a different experience. We can look at the same thing but our minds place a different significance on it, no matter how similar we could argue against it, but it is the same world, and that is what I find interesting.
Since 2008, I have been a Flickr member. Each year, I create a Set and fill all my pictures I have uploaded from that year and review them at the end. I would like to share with you my photos of 2011.
I wish you a very happy new year.

Lost in Thought... (Portfolio Preview)
The brisk breeze and twinkle of lights in the distance, certainly signifies that December is here and Christmas is coming.
In previous years, I would get excited about the prospect of Christmas around the First of December but from being stuffed to the brim with work, the excitement of Christmas has to be patient.
Next Friday I shall be on my Holidays but before then I have still got prints to complete in the darkroom and not just practice prints this time; Portfolio Prints! And I'm quite looking forward to building my first collection of images while I have been at University.
I hope I can be of inspiration to aspiring Photographers out there.

Prague Through Pictures... - My Refections
Desire for a perfect life is simply inaccurate. Not everything we do in life has pointed us to the right track or the right direction, as much we try to take the best route. We make mistakes and we learn from them. Like many, I don't like the feeling of regret. Maybe some people do, but to me it feels so wrong, but in the long run, it is something we learn from. Life is for Living but it is also for Learning.
I had a regret the other day for going to Prague during the mid weeks of the just gone November. I regret pushing myself too hard and making myself ill, but the thing was that I am learning from my mistake and therefore no longer regret it. I had to be ill so I could be better; not just in my general health but in my well being and how I look and approach life. Though I didn't get out what I wanted to that month to go, I have managed to appreciate that I was given an experience. An experience to visit a new place and enjoy my youth with many like minded creative people on the Photography and Film courses of my University. It was a chance to bond and feel accepted in a thriving society. I also was given the opportunity to capture the significant parts of my stay on my camera. And that, made it personal.

Onto the road of progress...
Finally, I have got some motivation. It takes time and confidence to spark motivation. You probably knew that already, but I am one of those people who needs a little extra push to get things started.
After doing my first Wedding Shoot a few weeks ago, my dream is aspiring and I have the urge to learn the skills I need to become a Photographer all round. Those of you have read my blog from the beginning - Aug 2009, you will know that I have mentioned Practical Photography Magazine. Any Photographers out there? You may know it.
Well I have no been collecting for a year and purchased my twelfth issue yesterday. So of course they were beginning to pile up in sandwich of dust. "What I am going to do with all these magazines?" Of course I was not about to throw them away. I decided there and then to cut up articles that I showed interest in. Wedding Photography included, but I also need to swab up on the basics. If I am going to be a photography I need to know the technical stuff.
I have worked through half of the magazines so far - cutting them up, that is. Today I had ago at using textures and RAW. Stuart has mentioned RAW is the best and the magazine couldn't agree more, so I had a go using RAW and textures from http://www.photoanswers.co.uk/textures/ [the magazine's website]. If it doesn't work, just leave a comment below.
The original photo is at the top - a converted RAW.
I then edited the second photo using Photoshop and the Flickr photo editing side, Picnik. Both software is useful to use with different advantages and disadvantages.
Photoshop
- I used to blend the texture and photo layer together
- Used the curve tool to even the exposure
Picnik
- Get a range of sepia tones
- Use a selective colour tool efficiently
- Show a Before and After effect and placing the two images without spaces
Together I created this interesting image. I like it and quite proud.

Fresh Start...
Apart from yesterday it has been a while since I have really written anything. At the moment I'm currently in the Student Learning Centre at my college (I have a free lesson) and waiting for an I.T exam at ten thirty.
This post isn't really much photography based but its just about a new start - Its a new year, I've updated my blog theme as we also welcome this new decade. I think I'm going to try and track my progress more and write down any useful tips I'm given, while I learn. Also this year on my Flickr account I'm aiming to learn more skills and only going to upload my best photos. In the past I've only uploaded random photos that I took, without an interesting angle or whatever, but it also shows that I'm currently progressing.

My Photography Expands...
Hey, almost lunch and I have some left-over pizza that needs to be eaten up. No, that is not to do with photography, so I'll get back on track.
If you don't know already; I have another blog. I've explained the whole agenda on this other new blog of mine, so don't leave this behind. I am seperating the educational side of my photography and my leisure side. Sometimes, yeah I will combine my college work on this blog, as it all helps with achieving my goals.
So, ok. Here is the link, have a look, have a read and I will admit it sounds a bit more interesting in the style I have been taking previously. But then who was my audience...some photo-obsessed adults or teens/friends like myself. Still I doesn't mean all you interested people can follow.
http://mycreativeandmedia.blogspot.com/ - me [the college stuff that is actually quite fun]
and follow my photos on Flickr - that has a mixture of my college and home work. The link below will lead you there.

Camera news!

I am back from my photogrpahy trip to Liverpool. Here are some photos i took while i was away.
Also more news on my photography - I am going to get a professional camera for my sucess in my GCSE's that i recieved yesterday. The camera is really for my college work but after that I will be heading for my Wedding Photography career. Unfortunatly i didn't win the the photo competition with the "Creative Colour - the Cd" but it is ok because the prize was a camera and now I am getting one i don't need to enter. So good things come out of life even if you don't win.
The camera I am getting is the Eos Canon 450D. I heard it's pretty good. Can't wait.
I edited the bottom two photos shown here, with "Cross Process". I hadn't never tried it before but it gave really good effects. Remember exploring new tools helps on the road to improvement :D

Styles of photography
Another day, another blog.
Learning about being a photographer is not just about taking pictures but also finding a style that you feel comfortable with. My style at the moment is selective colour, if you may not have guessed. The colour on the photo is my main focas. On my slideshow above you will able to see what I clearly want to stand out. Some photographers just use colour, making the whole photo important. What i mean is that the black and white section of the photo is important but i don't notice it as much as what I edit in colour.
My definition about being a photographer is to let your audience see what you see. To invite you into their imagination and how they view the world. One of my Flickr contacts has lovely dream-like quality to her work and named a world after her name. Photographer's show their personality and true soul in their photography and it is very inspiring.
So what is your style of photogprahy?
If you don't know yet if you have just started off, experiment with lots of editing tools and you will find one soon enough that is right for you.

Introduction - Photography Aspirations
Every photographer starts of small, even if their dream and aspiration feels like the size of the world. Patience is the key. Whether there is more well known as you or a famous photographer you aspire to be like; they started off small once.
At the moment I am starting off small. My idea for a photography career only started a few months ago in May at my cousins wedding. I loved the idea for meeting new people and capturing their special day for the newlyweds.
In June 2008 a friend introduced me to Flickr. I wasn't looking to get interested in photography, just something to do in my spare time. My early work is pretty random, there isn't really any aim or anything.
I would experiment with editing tools on Picnik and loved the black and white with a touch of colour edit. My first try with that tool was of a flower. It was okay but there was something that just wasn't right. I had another go exactly a month later after I began my Flickr account and got better results, even a group invited me to add my picture to it "Selective Colour award".
I have continued alot with the selective colour photos and seen and felt my improvement along the way. I also love black and white photos and sepia. I find the classic look very inspiring. Flickr and
taking photos has now
beceome a big part of
If anyone is a wedding photographer or wants to become one, it would be interesting to see how you got to that point or why you want to become one.
