Blind Photography |
I followed the voice of this friend as she lead me here and there and I felt totally disorientated. Everything felt opposite. I heard some geese and instead of thinking, I am by the river, I imagined myself to be on the other side of the Greene by a hedge and play park...
I mentioned last week about a Blind photography assignment that I have been working on at University. On Saturday I went down by the river with a friend of mine and used my scarf as a blind fold and had a go at this wacky mad task. Trust me, it didn't help that I was drawing enough attention to myself without vision but I was also wearing bright red trousers. Thought through? Not really.
So to recap; Why am I doing this?
Well if you missed the previous post on this subject, then I shall explain now that as Photographers, we rely very much on what we see. It is what helps us decide what we want to capture with our cameras and importantly; How much light is falling on the subject matter?
After a class discussion on Monday, our lecturer was asking us if there were any patterns that came out from the pictures. I for one got lots of sky and very angled horizons, while others captured subjects that they wouldn't have had the confidence too if they could see. One example was of a fairly close up cyclist where she used flash at night and it worked really well.
Part 2 of this project is a chosen blind photo that shall be replicated in style such as if I chose the wonky horizontal line picture then I would have to take photos with wonky horizons, purposefully with my eyes open. Shall be interesting.
